Our People

We are particularly proud of our highly qualified and experienced team and believe we have some of the best people in the industry.

Chosen for their passion for jewellery above anything else, our showroom is staffed by jewellers rather than salespeople. Whether you are looking for advice on a purchase, a repair or a valuation, you are assured of the very best service without any pressure to buy. Over 80% of our Jewellers have been with us for over ten years and they all know jewellery inside out. At the last count we had six Gemmologists (FGAs), five diamond graders (DGAs), five BA graduates and over 200 years combined experience.

Our workshop is a mine of talent too, with some of the finest and most creative goldsmiths to be found anywhere in the UK: they have a knack of making the seemingly impossible happen! In 2001 we gained the first ever British Standard accreditation for a jewellery workshop and each year we complete upwards of 6,000 jobs ranging from simple chain solders to complex bespoke commissions.

PA Jewellery is an unusual place to work.  Our focus on product knowledge and enthusiasm for all things jewellery-related means working here is not like most retail-based jobs.  Since 2018 PA Jewellery has also become an Employee Ownership Trust with the Trust owning a majority shareholding in the business.  This gives every employee a share and an interest in the success of the business.  The team is at the centre of everything we do and this was recognised in 2019 when PA Jewellery was awarded the Team of the Year at the National Association of Jewellers Awards.

The Sales Team see everything from watch batteries and repairs to engagement rings and bespoke commissions.  Between them, they have a wealth of knowledge and experience to assist with the range of enquiries we see every day.  Diamonds, gemstones, gold or watches – the range of subjects is varied.  Some members of the team have more creative backgrounds and can help to bring customer’s ideas to life, while others are qualified gemmologists and diamond graders who can share their expertise and help customers make informed decisions about their purchases.  Initially however, a passion for jewellery and eagerness to learn is all that is required; our employees have studied for their gemmological qualifications while with us and gained their experience over time.

In the Workshop, our goldsmiths also bring together an array of talents.  Again, the work undertaken is hugely varied, from ring resizing and simple repairs to hand crafting bespoke pieces.  Combining technical skill and creative flair is a talent in itself and enables our team to solve problems, offer solutions and breathe new life into customer’s treasured jewellery.  Whether repairing a family heirloom or providing a new setting for a much-loved gemstone, it is their enthusiasm for jewellery that sets our goldsmiths apart.  Although experience at the bench is preferred, many of our team have completed further training on the job to enhance their skillset, so raw talent is the most important attribute to start with.

If you have a passion for jewellery and would like to find out more about working with us here at PA Jewellery simply send a CV to gems@pajewellery.com – even if we don’t currently have a position available we always keep interesting people on file in case the right opening comes up in the future.
